Petro Wire's Press-Locked Bar grating is a system of interlocking, perpendicular bars and provides a smooth clean look ideal for architectural applications such as grills, dividers and screens. It is used in the same structural applications as its' welded steel and rectangular aluminum counterparts, such as platforms, walkways and drainage or ventilation covers. It can be fabricated in carbon steel, stainless steel or aluminum, with spacings ranging from 7/16" to 1-3/16".
Press-Locked Steel Bar Grating is often desirable because of its clean, smooth look and excellent lateral support. It exhibits the same strength, long life and openness as welded grating, although it is not recommended for rolling loads. Instead of welding the joints, tremendous hydraulic pressure is used to bond the two close-tolerance slotted bars together. Permanent locking is achieved when the deep cross bar is forced into the notched bearing bar. Both the cross bars and the bearing bars provide walking surfaces in the press-locked design.
Rectangular bar grating is available in either the swage-locked or press-locked varieties. The rectangular bar is also available in a serrated surface for additional safety.
